When the European industrialization reached its peak, in the cultural, banking and handicraft centre-Zagreb-an invention appeared which will be the mark of the modern man of today. It was a small thing called PENKALA, patented in Budspest in 1906 as the "tehnical pencil" invented by Slavoljub Penkala. He was well known all over the Europe thanks to more than 70 patents ranging from aviation to many consumer objects used all over the world.

He got friendly with Mr Edmund Moster, one off the Moster brothers. In 1911 they completed the construction of the first factory named PENKALA D.D., Edmund Moser&Co. The Mosters had very good tehnical education. Having an excellent commercial mind, the factory very soon flourished. They sold their products worldwide
